In other words, by making a stand, one is already involved in politics.

Ang U.P. KALIPUNAN NG MGA MAG-AARAL NG SOSYOLOHIYA o UP KMS ay itinatag bilang muling pagpapangalan sa dating U.P. Sociological Society. Nilalayon ng UP KMS na itaguyod ang isang dinamiko, makasaysayan, kritikal, at maka-Pilipinong pag-aaral ng tao at lipunan at gamitin ang ganitong kaalaman para sa pagtataguyod ng kagalingang panlahat ng mga mag-aaral ng Sosyolohiya at ng Unibersidad. Bilang isang organisasyong pang-akademiko, naglunlunsad taun-taon ang KMS ng mga symposia, discussion groups (DG), at intellectual discussions (ID) upang linangin ang kagalingan at kaalaman ng mga mag-aaral sa mga napapanahong isyung panlipunan. Gayundin ang pagsasanay sa larangan ng pananaliksik. Nilalayon rin ng U.P. KMS na pag-isahin ang mga mag-aaral at tulungan ang mga ito na makipag-ugnayan sa kaguruan ng departamento. Bilang tugon rito, ang mga miyembro ng KMS ay aktibong nakikilahok sa mga aktibidades ng departamento at ng kolehiyo. Mula noon hanggang ngayon, lumilikha ng malakas na tinig ng pagbabago at pag-unlad para sa mga mag-aaral ng sosyolohiya ang UP KMS.
